Volkov said in a podcast that his fight vs pavlovich is going to happen now. He said he was trying to get out of it because he didn’t want to fight a friend but he said he is unable to turn it down because he had previously turned other fights down & felt he had no other option to accept

Unpopular opinion - if someone offered me 275k (Volkov's show salary) to fight my friend, I wouldn't even hesitate for 0.005 seconds to accept that offer.

@Cozstradamus yeah but to be fair that's not the scenario.

Instead what if someone came to you and was like, you have 2 options:
- Fight your friend for 275K
- Don't fight your friend and I'll get you someone else for 275K

So I think a lot of fighters want option 2 until they have no other choice.

@Gregory this is a fair point. Especially because in this case, him fighting his friend means if he wins, it could significantly hurt his friend's career projectory.

I guess I was mainly just trying to make fun of myself for being a money hungry *****. If someone offered me $275k to fight my 94 year old grandma, I would hesitate for a second but would probably still take it at the end of the day.

My concern with the Volkov Vs. Pav fight is because they're good friends, we could get a 'fight' that is a repeat of Natan Schulte Vs. Raush Manfio

@kniferusty Volkov also said hes never taken a round off of pavlovich in sparring, so I don’t imagine he is looking forward to actually fighting him lol

Usually when russians that know/respect one another fight it looks like a sparring match whcih Pavlovich has done in the past. That would favor Volkov a bit.
